How it works

From bonjour to real conversation

No two learners want the same things from French, so no two courses look the same. The shape of it, though, is always this simple.

1

Book an introductory chat

A relaxed, no-obligation conversation about goals and current level.

2

A personal lesson plan

Lessons are shaped around what the learner actually wants to do with French.

3

Speaking from the first lesson

Real conversation from day one, grammar layered in as confidence grows.

4

Steady, lasting fluency

Weekly lessons, purpose-built resources between sessions, progress you can feel.

Teaching principles

Taught the way languages live

A few fixed points sit behind every lesson plan.

The actual level, not the assumed one. Every learner starts where they really are: complete beginner, rusty school French, intermediate or advanced.

The right French for the right life. Metropolitan, Quebec or African French, matched to the learner’s plans and travel.

Culture alongside grammar. How the language actually lives in cafés, meetings and kitchens.

Homework designed to be finished. Purpose-built resources between sessions, kept short because they are useful.

Lessons that fit around life. Evenings, weekends and irregular hours, online over Zoom, anywhere in the UK.

Questions

Asked before the first lesson

le thé, c’est permis aussi

Do I need any French to start?

Not at all. Most learners begin as complete beginners or with rusty school French. Early lessons cover sounds, useful phrases and light grammar at a comfortable pace.

Which version of French is taught?

Metropolitan French as the default: the French of books, film and travel. Quebec, Belgian, Swiss or African French where there is a specific need.

How are lessons delivered?

Online over Zoom, anywhere in the UK, with materials sent after each session.

Is GCSE French covered?

Yes, AQA and Edexcel: written papers, speaking exam rehearsal, past papers and exam technique.

How much do lessons cost?

See the pricing and packages above, or get in touch if you're unsure which option is right for you.
